Hi All,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a place where you can go and stay to get counseling.
So in other words, instead of this hour long session once a week stuff, you actually go and live at a facility where they help you daily with individual and group sessions of counseling.
Ovbiously they have it for drug addicts, alcoholics, and those with eating disorders, but if you don't have those things, is there still a place for you to go?
Thank you in advance for any help.

well, it usually has to be pretty serious to get in but most hospitals that have drug and alcohol treatment do have inpatient mental wards.

There are places for the physically and mentally disabled around the country, mostly filed under assisted living centers. I would suggest contacting someone from your state's Commission for the Blind or from the NFB to ask about communal and assisted living situations.

That said, I don't think there are any that are solely geared toward the blind, but I'm not sure.

Shawn,
I guess that depends on where you live. Here in Michigan, suicidal ideation, and even cutting doesn't get you in. *shakes head*

M,
Thank you, I just emailed them. Apparently since tomorrow is the 4th, noone is in. Lol.

Hi, Michelle. Here in Colorado, as well as Nebraska and Iowa, where I've lived, the only way to get what you're talking about was to check yourself into a hospital's psychiatric unit. To do that, you had to have pretty severe suicidal ideation, to be harming yourself, or to want to physically harm others. Those places can be extremely helpful, when you are in need of them. Here in Colorado, the county provides an assisted living thing that doesn't have as strict admission criteria as a hospital. maybe your state or county has something like that, too. Though I have to be honest, I've always found hospitals far more helpful than county-run facilities.

Yep, already went to the hospital, they had me in one of them, & you're right, it was of no help to me.
Like I said, apparently cutting doesn't even get you in.

I guarantee out here, the knowledge that you're cutting would have gotten you into a hospital.
